They are hard at work experimenting, inventing and tinkering with their own projects in a playful way. Every year, over 10,000 children and young people from the fourth grade onwards receive their first taste of research thanks to Jugend forscht. They present their results nationwide in over 120 competitions to a jury of teachers, scientists and trainers. This year, 137 young people are presenting their creative ideas at the Heilbronn-Franken regional competition at Künzelsau University of Applied Sciences. As the organizer, ebm-papst is providing a stage for the young talents of the region.
“We believe in the project and in young people who want to try their hand at technology, research and science.”

Promoting young talent out of conviction
For 27 years, ebm-papst has been organizing and financing the regional competition as a sponsor company, even in challenging times. At the state level, the company also donates prizes for the best training project. Timo Pflüger, sponsor representative for Jugend forscht at ebm-papst, says: “We believe in the project and in young people who want to try their hand at technology, research and science. Our greatest resource in Germany is inventive talent. As an innovation-driven company, we are happy to invest in awakening this talent in the next generation.” It’s worth it because the competition serves as an introduction to scientific work for many young people and challenges their communication skills when presenting their projects, an important foundation for training or studying.
In 2026, 137 participants submitted a total of 72 projects to Jugend forscht:

Opening doors for young talent
The trainees at ebm-papst also present their own research projects, this year one from each of the two company locations in St.Georgen and Mulfingen. In addition to the two-day competition, ebm-papst also organizes a supporting program of various workshops, such as basketball with the Crailsheim Merlins or a trip to the trampoline hall.
Timo Pflüger says: “We are very proud to be able to offer young people who are interested in technology and science new experiences and a great adventure with this project.” But that’s not all: “We often welcome new trainees or students who first got to know us through participating or observing at Jugend forscht—and that’s where we got to know them,” says Pflüger proudly.
The participants will present their projects to a jury. The winners will go on to the state competition.
