Mr. Stern, why is ebm-papst launching an entire family of compact fans?
Because no two applications are alike. Our customers have very different requirements for compact fans – some models deliver high static pressure and others provide the highest possible airflow while remaining exceptionally quiet. There is no single product that can do all of these things equally well. That’s why we’ve developed three fan solutions, each with its own specialized design. Depending on the application, they offer the optimal combination of airflow, efficiency, and reliability.

What do the three models–AxiForce, AxiFlow, and DiaForce–have in common, and how do they differ?
AxiForce 40, AxiForce 60, AxiFlow 60, and DiaForce 40 are all based on the same, newly developed BG20 motor. However, they differ in their aerodynamic design – which depends on the specific customer requirements. AxiForce is designed for applications with higher back pressure and offers maximum efficiency combined with optimized noise performance. AxiFlow pursues the same goal but is specifically optimized for applications with lower back pressure and higher airflow. DiaForce delivers a combination of efficiency, power density, and an exceptionally low noise level – making it suitable for demanding, high-pressure applications.
For which applications were the Force and Flow variants developed?
In general, both variants are suitable for a wide range of applications with high demands on airflow, efficiency, and reliability: from industrial applications and data centers to photovoltaic and battery storage systems, as well as charging infrastructure, medical technology, refrigerated display cases, and displays. In the IP68 version or with ATEX certification, they are also ideally suited for outdoor use.

We’ve developed three fan solutions, each with its own specialized design. Depending on the application, they offer the optimal combination of airflow, efficiency, and reliability.

DiaForce plays a special role within the family. What makes it so special?
DiaForce was developed specifically for applications with very high pressure requirements, such as in data centers. Its unique selling point is its aerodynamic design in a single-stage configuration. While comparable solutions often use two counter-rotating fan stages, DiaForce achieves the required pressure output with just one stage. This improves efficiency and reduces noise: Unpleasant, high-frequency noise components are minimized, and even at high power levels and in high-pressure applications, it produces a significantly more pleasant sound profile. This is a crucial advantage, especially in data centers with a large number of continuously running fans. In these environments, reliable cooling, every decibel, and every gain in efficiency count.
