Last year, 3,300 runners took part in the ebm-papst marathon, which has been attracting athletes to the starting line in Niedernhall for
22 years. Today hobby runners compete alongside top athletes in eleven events, including marathon, half-marathon, 10K run and Nordic walking.
In this year’s half-marathon, the Baden-Württemberg championships will be held in parallel, and the Nordic walking course has been lengthened from 7 to 7.5 kilometers. That makes it possible for participants to earn credit for the German Sports Badge.
Since the ebm-papst marathon is also a popular family event, there are also “bambini” races for small children. Inline and hand cyclist competitions round out the event. An entertainment program for the whole family will await the fans at the festival grounds and refreshments will be available. Last year, more than 10,000 spectators cheered the athletes on along the course.
The course is both demanding and appealing, with beautiful views of the Kocher valley rewarding those who complete the challenging climbs through the vineyards.
