Injec\u00adtion molding allows for precise design, enabling compo\u00adnents to be manu\u00adfac\u00adtured with very small toler\u00adances. However, the disad\u00advan\u00adtages of plastic in the event of fire include a build-up of gas and lower dimen\u00adsional stability. For this reason, the use of plastic is often very limited in some markets, mainly in the USA, often in Asia, and to some extent in Europe (France).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Modern manu\u00adfac\u00adturing for high-perfo\u00admance impellers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The fan experts at ebm-papst are there\u00adfore focusing on new and improved options in sheet metal forming and joining processes in order to develop modern, high-perfor\u00admance impellers that neither melt nor produce smoke in the event of a fire and can be used effi\u00adciently in any envi\u00adron\u00adment (Image 1). The aero\u00addy\u00adnam\u00adi\u00adcally most favor\u00adable designs for blades, bases and cover plates can be tech\u00adni\u00adcally imple\u00admented (Image 2). Manu\u00adfac\u00adturing toler\u00adances are also very low today, and the air gap between the inlet ring and the impeller is smaller than in the previous metal design. This also results in higher effi\u00adciency in the new series (Image 3). The devil is in the detail: even with high produc\u00adtion volumes, the manu\u00adfac\u00adturing process must always deliver repro\u00adducible results with high dimen\u00adsional accu\u00adracy and a long service life. However, welding as a thermal process is known to alter the metal struc\u00adture and can lead to locally reduced strength. As a result, the impellers with five blades and improved geom\u00adetry operate much more quietly and effi\u00adciently than their metal prede\u00adces\u00adsors. Thanks to the improved strength of the impellers, even higher speeds can be achieved with almost iden\u00adtical weight. This also ensures increased air delivery with the same dimen\u00adsions. The mounting plate and numerous edge assem\u00adblies are virtu\u00adally iden\u00adtical or more compact, making it easy to replace old fans (Image 5). Existing guide grilles for several iden\u00adtical fan units and inlet rings for the fans are also compat\u00adible. The fans in this series are avail\u00adable with impeller diam\u00ade\u00adters from 280 to 800 mm and offer a motor power of approx. 170 W to 24 kW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addi\u00adtion, the larger sizes 710 and 800 can be equipped with more powerful motors, resulting in higher flow volumes with high effi\u00adciency. The latter corre\u00adsponds to a flow volume of around 50,000 m\u00b3\/h (free blowing) for the 800 mm fan and still 30,000 m\u00b3\/h at a pres\u00adsure increase of 2,000 pascals. Depending on the appli\u00adca\u00adtion require\u00adments, RadiPac fans are avail\u00adable in a long (stan\u00addard type) or, option\u00adally, a compact short version. Depending on the instal\u00adla\u00adtion situ\u00ada\u00adtion, reso\u00adnance can occur in certain speed ranges. If a fan is frequently oper\u00adated in such a crit\u00adical range, the bearing system of the drive motor can be damaged, leading to prema\u00adture failure of the fan. Although these vibra\u00adtions can be measured by plant oper\u00ada\u00adtors, they cannot be easily elim\u00adi\u00adnated. ebm-papst solves this problem in RadiPac centrifugal fans with auto\u00admatic reso\u00adnance detec\u00adtion. During start-up to nominal speed, this system regis\u00adters possible appli\u00adca\u00adtion-specific reso\u00adnance speeds, which are then avoided or quickly passed through during subse\u00adquent oper\u00ada\u00adtion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This protects the bear\u00adings and increases reli\u00ada\u00adbility.
