The tradi\u00adtional estab\u00adlish\u00adment had only been used sporad\u00adi\u00adcally over a decade, with the restau\u00adrant remaining closed and large parts of the building standing mostly empty. However, a new lease\u00adholder has now breathed new life into it, and is currently reno\u00advating the Fl\u00fcel\u00aderhof from top to toe with a view to reopening it as a contem\u00adpo\u00adrary 4-star hotel in the coming year. The revamped hotel is set to offer around 24 rooms, fine cuisine, and comfort\u00adable lodg\u00adings for rail trav\u00adelers, fami\u00adlies, couples, and hikers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ebmpapst-7237.kxcdn.com\/de\/files\/2025\/10\/hotel-fluelerhof-historisch-altbau.webp\" alt class=\"wp-image-39378\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The hotel in Fl\u00fcelen has been welcoming guests since 1982. It provides wonderful views over the lake and is located a stone\u2019s throw from the rail station. With its modern, charming ambiance and family-friendly facil\u00adi\u00adties, the hotel is an intrinsic part of the tourist devel\u00adop\u00adments along the Gotthard route<em>.<\/em> (Photo | Hotel Fl\u00fcel\u00aderhof)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Outdated tech\u00adnology in a confined space<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Given that the building is under\u00adgoing a full reno\u00adva\u00adtion from the ground up, a new venti\u00adlation system was also required. It must supply air to the entire building, including areas with special airflow require\u00adments such as the kitchen. The old fans were 35 to 40 years old and the system had been out of use for some time. It was also clear that there was no way of completely replacing the venti\u00adlation units \u2013 they were installed as a monoblock and the lack of space in the building struc\u00adture meant they were very diffi\u00adcult to access and dismantle. As such, all air handling func\u00adtions are combined in a single device, which makes instal\u00adla\u00adtion easier and saves space. Monoblocks are mainly used for large venti\u00adlation systems and ensure that the air is effi\u00adciently cleaned, heated, and cooled and a high-quality indoor climate is main\u00adtained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Source: polludoc.ch<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The solu\u00adtion: RadiFit fans<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In view of the above, the hotel turned to Clima-Nova AG, a Swiss specialist in venti\u00adlation systems. Instal\u00adla\u00adtion super\u00advisor Jannik Gisler coor\u00addi\u00adnated the imple\u00admen\u00adta\u00adtion work and contacted Fatlum Korbi, retrofit specialist at ebm-papst in Switzer\u00adland, to help with the tech\u00adnical design. \u201cWe needed more power, but it was also essen\u00adtial to retain the existing housing,\u201d says Gisler, explaining the chal\u00adlenge facing the team. When he visited the prop\u00aderty with Korbi to check its condi\u00adtion and inspect the system, it soon became clear that RadiFit fans would be the right solu\u00adtion on account of their compact design and simple inte\u00adgra\u00adtion into the existing units. (Photos | ebm-papst)<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">High-quality air for the new hotel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once ebm-papst had deliv\u00adered the fans from Germany to Switzer\u00adland, the work to upgrade the venti\u00adlation system proceeded at pace. Between March 18 and 25, 2025, Clima-Nova disman\u00adtled the old fans and its subsidiary HCN Clean thor\u00adoughly cleaned the system. The new fans were then installed \u2013 two per unit, mounted as mirror images of one another, meaning a total of eight Radi\u00adFits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An elec\u00adtrical exten\u00adsion box devel\u00adoped by ebm-papst provided easy access to elec\u00adtronics that were hard to reach: \u201cIt meant the elec\u00adtri\u00adcians didn\u2019t have to crawl into the cramped cabinet,\u201d explained Korbi. A poten\u00adtiometer was also installed at all fans \u2013 it works like a control knob and can be used to manu\u00adally adjust the fan speed and, there\u00adfore, the system\u2019s oper\u00adating point. For the Hotel Fl\u00fcel\u00aderhof, it provides a simple means of oper\u00adating the system in On\/Off mode without having to completely replace the old control system, &nbsp;and meant the hotel oper\u00ada\u00adtors could use the system straight away. The kitchen also receives the air it needs. (Photo | ebm-papst)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Energy-effi\u00adcient and reli\u00adable<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The new fans weren\u2019t just ready for use quickly, the EC motors installed in them are also energy-effi\u00adcient, quiet, and reli\u00adable, and mini\u00admize the amount of main\u00adte\u00adnance work required \u2013 a real boon for the hotel oper\u00ada\u00adtors as they can perma\u00adnently keep costs down. \u201cMany installers aren\u2019t yet familiar with the RadiFit units,\u201d says Korbi, \u201cso we often find that they\u2019re all the more surprised at how straight\u00adfor\u00adward they are to install and the bene\u00adfits they deliver.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With its new venti\u00adlation system, the Fl\u00fcel\u00aderhof is ideally placed to usher in a new era as a 4-star hotel. The oper\u00ada\u00adtors can now rely on a comfort\u00adable and hygienic air supply from an energy-effi\u00adcient system.
