Espe\u00adcially in older build\u00adings with obso\u00adlete tech\u00adnology, these condi\u00adtions are often no longer met. That was the situ\u00ada\u00adtion at the Kebon Jeruk, Semanggi and TB Simatu\u00adpang loca\u00adtions oper\u00adated by the Siloam Hospi\u00adtals Group, one of Indonesia\u2019s leading private health\u00adcare providers. The company reacted by imple\u00admenting exten\u00adsive retro\u00adfits of the venti\u00adlation systems at the three hospi\u00adtals. The aim is to signif\u00adi\u00adcantly improve the systems\u2019 energy effi\u00adciency while simul\u00adta\u00adne\u00adously ensuring a constant air flow in the highly sensi\u00adtive oper\u00adating room and inten\u00adsive care areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thor\u00adough analysis of the current condi\u00adtion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In November 2023, the employees of the Siloam Hospi\u00adtals Group\u2019s depart\u00adment for energy savings in existing build\u00adings collab\u00ado\u00adrated with the experts at ebm-papst to produce a thor\u00adough analysis of the current condi\u00adtion of the existing venti\u00adlation tech\u00adnology. This revealed that the old belt-driven AC fans were real power guzzlers. However, that was not all. At the Semanggi loca\u00adtion, two units were entirely out of service due to burnt-out motor wind\u00adings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Retrofit ensures effi\u00adciency and system perfor\u00admance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Based on the site analyses, ebm-papst then devel\u00adoped customized retro\u00adfitting solu\u00adtions for all three hospital loca\u00adtions. In Kebon Jeruk, two outdated AC fans with belt drives were replaced with RadiPac EC fans, resulting in a higher air flow and a signif\u00adi\u00adcant reduc\u00adtion in energy consump\u00adtion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Semanggi, ebm-papst\u2019s retro\u00adfitting experts installed EC fans in the two non-func\u00adtioning venti\u00adlation units, thus restoring their func\u00adtion\u00adality with an effi\u00adcient solu\u00adtion. At the TB Simatu\u00adpang hospital, the three existing venti\u00adlation units were also retro\u00adfitted with RadiPac EC fans. A total of ten AHUs were modern\u00adized easily without inter\u00adrupting their oper\u00ada\u00adtion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Replacing the outdated fans with EC tech\u00adnology has reduced current consump\u00adtion at all hospital sites by an average of around 65 percent. It has also improved air flow consis\u00adtency \u2013 a key factor in ensuring sterile condi\u00adtions in oper\u00adating rooms.
