The ebm\u2011papst Group, the world\u2019s leading supplier of fans and motors, offi\u00adcially put its new E-Drive Solu\u00adtion Labs into oper\u00ada\u00adtion in Mulfingen today. After the EMC test center, the testing center and the High\u00adSpeed Tech\u00adnical Center for turbo\u00adcom\u00adpres\u00adsors, Solu\u00adtion Labs is ebm-papst\u2019s fourth invest\u00adment in research and devel\u00adop\u00adment at the company\u2019s head\u00adquar\u00adters since 2021. The inno\u00adva\u00adtion and devel\u00adop\u00adment center, which is unique in the industry, brings together different depart\u00adments under one roof to develop solu\u00adtions for various ebm-papst product ranges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive solu\u00adtions pave the way for future trends<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

ebm-papst has invested around 30 million euros in its new Solu\u00adtion Labs facility. It was completed within two years and houses various compe\u00adten\u00adcies from the E-Drive Solu\u00adtions divi\u00adsion, such as elec\u00adtronics, motors, embedded computing, appli\u00adca\u00adtion and series devel\u00adop\u00adment, and inno\u00adva\u00adtion and knowl\u00adedge manage\u00adment, all under one roof. As Professor Tomas Smetana, Chief Tech\u00adnology Officer, explained: \u201cSolu\u00adtion Labs\u2019 130 or so employees work closely with all the product devel\u00adop\u00adment depart\u00adments involved, from inno\u00adva\u00adtion devel\u00adop\u00adment to series devel\u00adop\u00adment. The aim is to develop new inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive solu\u00adtions in areas that will shape the future such as digi\u00adtal\u00adiza\u00adtion, data centers and the heat tran\u00adsi\u00adtion.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turbo compres\u00adsors by ebm-papst<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Close collab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtions also exist with the existing EMC test center and the High\u00adSpeed Tech\u00adnical Center in Mulfingen. Solu\u00adtions devel\u00adoped in Solu\u00adtion Labs for pre-series and series prod\u00aducts are tested, opti\u00admized and veri\u00adfied in the EMC labo\u00adra\u00adtory, from the indi\u00advidual compo\u00adnent to the customer\u2019s final device. The elec\u00adtronics for the compres\u00adsors devel\u00adoped in the High\u00adSpeed Tech\u00adnical Center, for example, come from Solu\u00adtion Labs. The concepts and ideas are also used as part of the modular motor system for the various divi\u00adsions and regions of ebm-papst, which then adapt them to their market and its require\u00adments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One special feature is the archi\u00adtec\u00adture of the building, which was built on top of an existing produc\u00adtion building so as to save space and ensure sustain\u00adability. ebm-papst placed great emphasis on short distances between depart\u00adments and labo\u00adra\u00adto\u00adries across the approx\u00adi\u00admately 3,200 square meters. An open space design also promotes commu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion and creative exchange between employees. In addi\u00adtion, an energy-effi\u00adcient heating and cooling system with a connec\u00adtion to the new district heating and cooling network and an appro\u00adpriate lighting system ensure sustain\u00adability and comfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
