This incluedes the two North and South connecting tunnels: the north tunnel connects the 5-star Hilton Hotel, Hall F and the P22, P1 and P5 multi-storey parking lots with the terminal area. The south tunnel provides a direct under\u00adground connec\u00adtion between the P20, P5 and P8 parking garages and the terminal area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen one of our fans failed in the fall of 2024, we had to act quickly,\u201d recalls Thomas R\u00fchmann, Project Manager for Energy Manage\u00adment at Munich Airport. The systems in ques\u00adtion were as old as the airport itself; they worked with one large belt-driven fan for the supply and exhaust air per tunnel. This outdated tech\u00adnology had consid\u00ader\u00adable disad\u00advan\u00adtages: in addi\u00adtion to the high energy consump\u00adtion, the lack of oper\u00ada\u00adtional safety was a major issue. This means a total of 4 belt-driven fans that are more than 30 years old. And also at different levels with a height differ\u00adence of 2.4 meters.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"mgznkr-stickyhero alignfull\">\n<div class=\"mgznkr-stickyhero__media text-left mode-cover\" style=\"background-image:url('https:\/\/ebmpapst-7237.kxcdn.com\/de\/files\/2025\/02\/ebm-papst_Retrofit-Flugahfen-Muenchen_web_CAM06237.jpg'); background-color: ; \" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"mgznkr-stickyhero__content alignwide\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Get rid of the dirt<\/h3>\n\n<p>The old solu\u00adtion is also prob\u00adlem\u00adatic from a hygiene point of view due to its various wearing parts. The abra\u00adsion of the belts, for example, causes cont\u00ada\u00adm\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion in the air ducts, or bearing grease can be distrib\u00aduted on the fan, V-belt and housing. The old engines weigh up to 400 kilo\u00adgrams, so cranes are used. This is followed by prepa\u00adra\u00adtions for installing the new solu\u00adtion. Stephan Jendrallek has already produced special pres\u00adsure bulk\u00adheads for this, into which the new fans will be mounted as a FanGrid.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"mgznkr-stickyhero alignfull\">\n<div class=\"mgznkr-stickyhero__media text-left mode-cover\" style=\"background-image:url('https:\/\/ebmpapst-7237.kxcdn.com\/de\/files\/2025\/01\/ebm-papst_Retrofit-Flugahfen-Muenchen_web_CAM06111-1.jpg'); background-color: ; \" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"mgznkr-stickyhero__content alignwide\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instal\u00adla\u00adtion is child\u2019s play<\/h3>\n\n<p>To keep the instal\u00adla\u00adtion phase as short as possible, Dieter Hilde\u00adbrandt suggested plug-&amp;-play RadiPac C fans. These make handling and instal\u00adla\u00adtion child\u2019s play, for example thanks to the support plates. Jendrallek\u2019s team installed a total of 34 RadiPac C fans in specially manu\u00adfac\u00adtured pres\u00adsure bulk\u00adheads. The latter was partic\u00adu\u00adlarly impor\u00adtant to the airport team for the oper\u00ada\u00adtional safety of the systems.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover alignfull is-light\"><span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-cover__background has-background-dim-100 has-background-dim\" style=\"background-color:#a3ba1e\"><\/span><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-cover-is-layout-flow\">\n<section class=\"wp-block-group alignfull\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alignwide mgznkr-elements mgznkr-box has-white-background-color has-background\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:22px\">What can auto\u00admatic reso\u00adnance detec\u00adtion in venti\u00adlation systems do?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">If a fan is frequently oper\u00adated at exces\u00adsive vibra\u00adtion levels \u2013 caused by dirt deposits, for example \u2013 this can have a nega\u00adtive impact on its service life. The RadiPac C there\u00adfore features auto\u00admatic reso\u00adnance detec\u00adtion. For this purpose, a test start-up is carried out during commis\u00adsioning, which analyzes the vibra\u00adtion velocity over the entire speed progres\u00adsion from stand\u00adstill to the nominal speed. When the fan is installed in the system, inte\u00adgrated vibra\u00adtion sensors detect the reso\u00adnances and the soft\u00adware avoids oper\u00ada\u00adtion in the crit\u00adical ranges detected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">The user can edit the soft\u00adware settings manu\u00adally at any time, so they always have full control. If the vibra\u00adtion speed increases during oper\u00ada\u00adtion, for example due to dirt deposits on the impeller and the resulting addi\u00adtional imbal\u00adance, the soft\u00adware issues an auto\u00admatic warning. The advan\u00adtage of this fan wall is its redun\u00addancy: if one of the fans fails, the others auto\u00admat\u00adi\u00adcally take over the missing power.
