Entleitner had the basic idea as part of his master\u2019s thesis, which concerned the evap\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtion processes in tubular heat exchangers. This idea trig\u00adgered the two men\u2019s inven\u00adtive\u00adness and in 2019 they used an inge\u00adnious method to acquire an old heat pump. \u201cBeing country boys, we used a cattle truck to collect the enor\u00admous piece of equip\u00adment from the Steier\u00admark region,\u201d explains Fuchs. \u201cWe cut it open and modi\u00adfied it in line with our ideas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This proto\u00adtype earned them the neces\u00adsary start-up funding from Austria Wirtschaftsser\u00advice and the Forschungs\u00adf\u00f6rderungs\u00adge\u00adsellschaft for deep-tech star\u00adtups. (Photo | Math\u00e4us Gartner)<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Lambda system<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Circu\u00adla\u00adtion takes place in the air heat exchanger or evap\u00ado\u00adrator. Compared with a conven\u00adtional heat pump, this increases the transfer of heat from the air to the cooling circuit by a factor of four to six. According to Fuchs, the biggest success was the design of the cooling circuit controller. As the design of their heat pump, the Eureka, is more complex, absolute preci\u00adsion is essen\u00adtial. This is achieved by the heat pump via a special controller for the expan\u00adsion valve, which ensures that the flow of the propane refrig\u00aderant is managed as precisely as possible. Fuchs does not want to disclose much more: \u201cWe have the patent on our special expan\u00adsion valve controller.\u201d And that\u2019s not the last of the inno\u00adva\u00adtions. The controller works with the support of a virtual twin. It is also the reason for choosing the AxiBlade 710 fan, which can be controlled precisely via Modbus. \u201cThat is already a signif\u00adi\u00adcant advan\u00adtage for us because we can capture all the data and define the exact speed. In most heat pumps, the fan sucks the ambient air in through the evap\u00ado\u00adrator. \u201cIn our heat pump, the fan pushes the air through the evap\u00ado\u00adrator. This ensures addi\u00adtional noise protec\u00adtion for neigh\u00adbors and that the heat pump doesn\u2019t ice up as often,\u201d says Fuchs, explaining the inno\u00adva\u00adtion of the fan design. However, just because a heat pump is quieter doesn\u2019t make it a quiet heat pump. Even if the measured volume values are low, disrup\u00adtive under\u00adtones cannot be ruled out. That is why psychoa\u00adcoustics are just as impor\u00adtant as volume. \u201cWe don\u2019t just look at the measured value. This perfectly satis\u00adfied our require\u00adment of creating maximum air flow while mini\u00admizing current consump\u00adtion,\u201d says Fuchs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to its inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive heat pump, Lambda has moved from a carport to a 10,000-square-meter produc\u00adtion building within just a short time.
