Intro\u00adduced by the Euro\u00adpean Commis\u00adsion in December 2019, this climate protec\u00adtion package aims to make Europe the world\u2019s first climate-neutral conti\u00adnent by 2050, targeting a reduc\u00adtion of net green\u00adhouse gas emis\u00adsions by at least 55 percent by 2030 compared to 1990 levels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The EU Commis\u00adsion has proposed concrete measures for finan\u00adcial market regu\u00adla\u00adtion, energy supply, trans\u00adport, trade, industry, agri\u00adcul\u00adture, and forestry to facil\u00adi\u00adtate the tran\u00adsi\u00adtion to a modern, resource-effi\u00adcient, and compet\u00adi\u00adtive economy. Previ\u00adously, only capital-market-oriented compa\u00adnies had to docu\u00adment their sustain\u00adability activ\u00adi\u00adties in stan\u00addard\u00adized reports. However, with the intro\u00adduc\u00adtion of the Corpo\u00adrate Sustain\u00adability Reporting Direc\u00adtive (CSRD) in January 2023, around 50,000 compa\u00adnies (including about 15,000 in Germany) will be required to publish sustain\u00adability infor\u00adma\u00adtion on their busi\u00adness activ\u00adi\u00adties in prede\u00adfined stages and undergo external audits. The key contents of these reports may include infor\u00adma\u00adtion on economic, ecolog\u00adical, or social factors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ebm-papst is among the compa\u00adnies affected by this new regu\u00adla\u00adtion, as we have at least 250 employees and a balance sheet total of at least 25 million euros.
