This is essen\u00adtial to ensure that the tech\u00adnology installed in the wind power plants can work reli\u00adably and is not damaged. <strong>Fans<\/strong> play an impor\u00adtant role here. <strong>Effec\u00adtive cooling<\/strong> that consumes as little energy as possible can increase the perfor\u00admance and there\u00adfore the effi\u00adciency of the entire plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wind power plants require a lot of cooling. In addi\u00adtion to the elec\u00adtronics, converters and gener\u00ada\u00adtors, pitch drives, control cabi\u00adnets and trans\u00admis\u00adsions must also be cooled and the nacelle air-condi\u00adtioned. The require\u00adments for the fans used are as varied as the indi\u00advidual appli\u00adca\u00adtions. In most cases, the required air perfor\u00admance is not the only crucial factor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fans must also excel in terms of energy effi\u00adciency, acoustics and, above all, reli\u00ada\u00adbility, while often having to cope with cramped instal\u00adla\u00adtion condi\u00adtions. For the various air condi\u00adtioning solu\u00adtions, ebm-papst\u2019s port\u00adfolio there\u00adfore includes a wide range of axial and centrifugal fans with energy-saving EC motors that are designed to meet the prop\u00ader\u00adties required in wind power plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Infi\u00adnitely vari\u00adable control, quiet, robust and with condi\u00adtion moni\u00adtoring<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If the wind power plant produces little or no elec\u00adtricity, the cooling require\u00adment decreases and the fans have to adapt to the respec\u00adtive oper\u00adating condi\u00adtions. This is where energy-effi\u00adcient EC fans with infi\u00adnitely vari\u00adable speed control are used. Aero\u00addy\u00adnamic opti\u00admiza\u00adtion ensures low-noise oper\u00ada\u00adtion, which is impor\u00adtant for wind power plants oper\u00adating close to resi\u00adden\u00adtial areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another impor\u00adtant aspect is that the inte\u00adgrated elec\u00adtronics of the EC motors are robust enough to cope with non-sinu\u00adsoidal supply currents thanks to their high dielec\u00adtric strength. This forms the basis for preven\u00adtive main\u00adte\u00adnance measures as part of the sched\u00aduled service inter\u00advals. Unex\u00adpected air condi\u00adtioning fail\u00adures due to the fan are signif\u00adi\u00adcantly reduced as a result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If there is a risk of corro\u00adsion because the fans come into contact with salty or humid air, a special coating protects the surfaces. This means that corro\u00adsion protec\u00adtion require\u00adments up to class C5-M in accor\u00addance with DIN EN ISO 12944 can be met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cabin air condi\u00adtioning<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The nacelle is where all the machinery for each wind power plant is housed. The temper\u00ada\u00adture inside should not exceed 30\u00b0C. After all, the power elec\u00adtronics, gener\u00adator etc. are cooled with the ambient air. Although the systems for nacelle air condi\u00adtioning differ in design, they always require reli\u00adable and robust fans. When the RadiPac centrifugal fans were devel\u00adoped, for example, the actual, often cramped instal\u00adla\u00adtion situ\u00ada\u00adtion in the customer device was taken into account. In partic\u00adular, the outflow char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adis\u00adtics of the impeller were opti\u00admized and deflec\u00adtion losses in the air handling unit as well as the outlet losses were reduced thanks to a special design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This allows the fans to run at a lower speed at the same oper\u00adating point, which in turn means that less energy is required and the oper\u00adating noise is lower. To achieve this, the gener\u00ada\u00adtors must be kept at a toler\u00adable temper\u00ada\u00adture level. If they become too hot, their effi\u00adciency and service life will be decreased. In the worst-case scenario, compo\u00adnents could be damaged, which would result in expen\u00adsive repair work. For this reason, centrifugal fans often convey air over the outer stator of the gener\u00adator to dissi\u00adpate the heat for cooling purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here too, the above-mentioned Radi\u00adPacs have found a typical area of appli\u00adca\u00adtion thanks to their high power density, robust\u00adness and large pres\u00adsure increase. Their compact dimen\u00adsions mean that both conven\u00adtional and ring gener\u00ada\u00adtors can be cooled. Demand-based, temper\u00ada\u00adture-controlled actu\u00ada\u00adtion is then possible via Modbus RTU or analog signals, for example. Thanks to EC motors\u2019 high effi\u00adciency levels, the gener\u00adator only needs to generate a small amount of energy for its own cooling. They are partic\u00adu\u00adlarly impres\u00adsive due to their high air flow rates, good noise char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adis\u00adtics and compact dimen\u00adsions, which also make it easy to replace previous AC solu\u00adtions. In sizes 133 to 560, they cover air perfor\u00admance levels of up to approx. 14,000 m\u00b3\/h (at up to 1,400 Pa).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Powerful RadiPac EC fans are used for cooling converters in wind power plants. Compact dimen\u00adsions due to what are usually very cramped instal\u00adla\u00adtion condi\u00adtions, dura\u00adbility, robust elec\u00adtronics and energy effi\u00adciency are also impor\u00adtant argu\u00adments in favor of centrifugal fans with their high power density.
