Sealing it off in this way means that only a small amount of heat energy is lost. (Photo | ebm-papst)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>In the mean\u00adtime, decen\u00adtral\u00adized solu\u00adtions for indi\u00advidual rooms or smaller units of use are also widely used, as they offer options for adapting to the user\u2019s indi\u00advidual wishes, enable detailed indi\u00advidual billing and can usually be easily retro\u00adfitted. In addi\u00adtion, these devices are inte\u00adgrated directly into the building fa\u00e7ade or windowsill and they do not require a duct system for supply and exhaust air. That is why they are ideal for reno\u00advating old build\u00adings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In central\u00adized systems, heat recovery and air filtra\u00adtion are easier and more effec\u00adtive to imple\u00adment and performing main\u00adte\u00adnance work is easier to execute according to plan. Both solu\u00adtions there\u00adfore have advan\u00adtages and can be combined if neces\u00adsary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, the devices designed for the various venti\u00adlation concepts require different fans. Motor and fan manu\u00adfac\u00adturer ebm-papst offers the right fan solu\u00adtion for the various require\u00adments. For the back\u00adward-curved EC fan, the company devel\u00adoped a vane anemometer for the most precise air flow deter\u00admi\u00adna\u00adtion \u2013 with just a one percent toler\u00adance in the final value \u2013 and a closed scroll housing with inte\u00adgrated control elec\u00adtronics. In addi\u00adtion, the centrifugal fans are designed as a plug &amp; play system, enabling venti\u00adlation system manu\u00adfac\u00adturers to install them easily. Sensors for humidity and temper\u00ada\u00adture are already inte\u00adgrated in the RadiCal. Other sensors, including those from third-party manu\u00adfac\u00adturers, can also be connected and the entire system can be read, moni\u00adtored and controlled via an open MODBUS RTU inter\u00adface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Avail\u00adable in five sizes between 133 and 225 mm, the RadiCal can be used in different build\u00adings and, in the largest version, achieves an air flow of up to 1,800 m\u00b3\/h. The EC fans also achieve a 34 percent higher effi\u00adciency than compa\u00adrable centrifugal blowers and are up to 3.5 dB(A) quieter than these. This means that the blade passing noise is also signif\u00adi\u00adcantly reduced. Manu\u00adfac\u00adturers are responding to this by designing their devices for minimal pres\u00adsure losses resulting from instal\u00adla\u00adtion. At the same time, venti\u00adlation and air-condi\u00adtioning devices need to be as compact as possible so as to mini\u00admize their foot\u00adprint and have suffi\u00adcient space inside for addi\u00adtional compo\u00adnents. For this reason, there is a demand for compact fans that deliver large air flows with low back pres\u00adsure while oper\u00adating as energy-effi\u00adciently and quietly as possible. ebm-papst designed the centrifugal fans in the RadiCal 2 series to meet precisely these require\u00adments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several design details contribute to this, making it possible to achieve a \u2018wound\u2019 blade geom\u00adetry that helps signif\u00adi\u00adcantly increase effi\u00adciency and reduce noise. The blades are tilted both forwards and back\u00adwards and the profile of the inlet and outlet edges has been revised. This improves the flow behavior while at the same time increasing the strength of the fan impeller, which is made of resis\u00adtant plastic. The wavy cover plate also improves the aero\u00addy\u00adnamic char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adis\u00adtics and, as a result, the air perfor\u00admance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the centrifugal module, i.e. the housing box, the inclined struts further increase the air perfor\u00admance. The axial height of the struts is selected to fill the back\u00adflow areas in the best possible way. There is also an enlarged intake diam\u00adeter, which ensures a greater air flow rate through the impeller. (Graphic | ebm-papst)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Room for room: decen\u00adtral\u00adized venti\u00adlation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Decen\u00adtral\u00adized resi\u00adden\u00adtial venti\u00adlation units installed in the fa\u00e7ade are not only suit\u00adable for reno\u00adva\u00adtion measures, but are also gaining in impor\u00adtance in new build\u00adings where rooms have to be indi\u00advid\u00adu\u00adally controlled, as in some resi\u00adden\u00adtial build\u00adings, in hotels and schools. Push-pull venti\u00adlation units convey used air from the living space to the outside (push) for a defined period of time, usually around 60 seconds. The fan installed in the venti\u00adlation unit then changes its direc\u00adtion of rota\u00adtion, i.e. it reverses (pull).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During push oper\u00ada\u00adtion, an inte\u00adgrated heat accu\u00admu\u00adlator stores the heat energy from the exhaust air. In the pull phase, it is trans\u00adferred to the fresh outside air so that it flows into the building preheated. A filter also clears dust and pollen from the air coming in from outside. Two units per room or zone are required to ensure balanced venti\u00adlation. In some cases, several rooms are venti\u00adlated using one pair of units. Due to their posi\u00adtion in the resi\u00adden\u00adtial and commer\u00adcial rooms, decen\u00adtral\u00adized units have to be partic\u00adu\u00adlarly space-saving and quiet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Push-Pull-Profi: AxiRev<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In decen\u00adtral\u00adized venti\u00adlation units, the direct prox\u00adimity of the fans to the outside air poses a partic\u00adular chal\u00adlenge: they have to deliver constant, level air flows even in changing wind forces. The AxiRev 126 reverse fan from ebm-papst was specially devel\u00adoped for this purpose. The char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adistic curve for the pressure\/air flow is very steep, which means that, even in stormy weather condi\u00adtions, there are only slight fluc\u00adtu\u00ada\u00adtions in the air flow. This means that wind and storms have little influ\u00adence on the effi\u00adciency and func\u00adtion of the decen\u00adtral\u00adized resi\u00adden\u00adtial venti\u00adlation unit. (Photo | ebm-papst)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>This is ensured by the \u201cflat\u201d symmet\u00adrical blades that enable higher pres\u00adsures and generate a very steep char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adistic curve. Adjusting the number of blades and struts with an aero\u00addy\u00adnamic profile reduces turbu\u00adlent trails. Together with the newly devel\u00adoped, extremely low-noise EC motor, this creates an oper\u00adating noise that is perceived as pleasant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The improved design also opti\u00admizes the effi\u00adciency: with a typical flow quan\u00adtity of 42 m\u00b3\/h per unit, the compact fan consumes less than two watts in a stan\u00addard device and remains partic\u00adu\u00adlarly quiet, even in partial load and minimum oper\u00ada\u00adtion with high effi\u00adciency, thanks to the EC motor. The large speed range from 500 rpm to 4,200 rpm (vari\u00adants also up to 4,700 rpm) ensures optimum adap\u00adta\u00adtion of the air perfor\u00admance to the require\u00adments. The compact design based on the prede\u00adcessor model enables users to use the AxiRev 126 as a retrofit in a plug &amp; play complete system. Compared to its prede\u00adcessor, the new AxiRev 126 is more powerful, more pres\u00adsure-resis\u00adtant and quieter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group mgznkr-elements mgznkr-accordion\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group accordion-item\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group accordion-content\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Indoor air quality is a deci\u00adsive factor for the health, well-being and produc\u00adtivity of people who are indoors \u2013 in their homes, at work, at school, at the super\u00admarket or when visiting a doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most Euro\u00adpeans spend more than 90 percent of their time indoors. We breathe in and breathe out up to 15,000 liters of air every day. So it is obvious that good air quality is not only a crit\u00adical factor in outdoor spaces.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group accordion-item\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>IAQ para\u00adme\u00adters<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group accordion-content\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>In indoor spaces, the number of people present, furni\u00adture, tech\u00adnical equip\u00adment or the building mate\u00adrials used directly affects the quality of the air. But the surrounding climatic condi\u00adtions and envi\u00adron\u00admental influ\u00adences also have an impact.
