(Photo | ebm-papst)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, the Mulfingen-based company is intro\u00adducing a second gener\u00ada\u00adtion of the fans with partic\u00adu\u00adlarly impres\u00adsive air flow rates, along\u00adside remark\u00adably compact dimen\u00adsions and pleasant noise char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adis\u00adtics (Figs. 1 and 2). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main contrib\u00adu\u00adtors to this have been aero\u00addy\u00adnamic opti\u00admiza\u00adtions, refined EC motors, and further improve\u00adments in control elec\u00adtronics. This improves the flow behavior (Fig. 3) while at the same time increasing the strength of the impeller, which is made of resis\u00adtant plastic. The inclined struts, for example, provide an addi\u00adtional boost to air perfor\u00admance. The shape of the struts can be varied over the axial height to avoid back\u00adflow areas as effec\u00adtively as possible. There is also an enlarged intake diam\u00adeter, which ensures a greater air flow rate through the impeller. With the size 190, for example, the intake diam\u00adeter has been increased from 132 to 150 mm, which helps air throughput.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading no-clear\">Signif\u00adi\u00adcant noise reduc\u00adtion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is further poten\u00adtial for improve\u00adment in clear\u00adance gap losses. Finding ways to improve the air gap, in other words the distance between the inlet nozzle and the impeller, is chal\u00adlenging because the gap will always have a certain toler\u00adance for manu\u00adfac\u00adturing reasons. In the case of the second-gener\u00ada\u00adtion RadiCal fans, however, new manu\u00adfac\u00adturing methods have made it possible to reduce the air gap signif\u00adi\u00adcantly, depending on the size. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a result, there is less turbu\u00adlence, effi\u00adciency increases and noise is reduced (Fig. 4). The new air inlet grille also helps to prevent noise (Fig. 5). (Graphic | ebm-papst)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As noise analysis showed that the rotor area had a major influ\u00adence on noise devel\u00adop\u00adment, a cap was added to the center of the air inlet grille, which signif\u00adi\u00adcantly reduced noise in the lower frequency range. Compared with the current series version, it is up to 2 dB(A) quieter when installed in a test rig (Fig. 6).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading no-clear\">New motor gener\u00ada\u00adtion<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-article-300\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ebmpapst-7237.kxcdn.com\/de\/files\/2023\/06\/fachartikel_radical_generation-2_ebm-papst_flowgrid-300x300.jpg\" alt class=\"wp-image-28503\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Fig. 5: The new Flow\u00adGrid has enabled noise in the lower frequency range to be signif\u00adi\u00adcantly reduced. Depending on the size of the fans, they cover a power range of up to 170 W for single-phase networks. Fans for three-phase networks and outputs of up to 1.5 kW will follow at a later date. There are no disrup\u00adtive reso\u00adnances when there is a change in speed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addi\u00adtion to good noise char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adis\u00adtics, the new gener\u00ada\u00adtion of motors also boasts excel\u00adlent EMC char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adis\u00adtics and dura\u00adbility. The commu\u00adta\u00adtion and control elec\u00adtronics are tuned to the motors and the air flow and oper\u00adating point can be precisely adjusted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Control and moni\u00adtoring are possible either through 0 \u2013 10 V\/PWM or option\u00adally through MODBUS-RTU starting from the 170 W variant. Networking via the commu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion bus then makes it possible to use the motor data for preven\u00adtive main\u00adte\u00adnance measures, for example, or to quickly adapt the fans to changes in oper\u00adating condi\u00adtions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Compact and easy to inte\u00adgrate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since no other instal\u00adla\u00adtion situ\u00ada\u00adtion is the same, the new centrifugal fans are very adapt\u00adable. This is an advan\u00adtage if there is little space in the centrifugal direc\u00adtion. The fans are also a few millime\u00adters shorter axially than their prede\u00adcessor. Thanks to the high air flow rates, a smaller size can now be used compared to the prede\u00adcessor model, depending on the oper\u00adating points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second-gener\u00ada\u00adtion RadiCal fans will be avail\u00adable in the familiar sizes 175, 190, 225, 250 and 280. Size 206 is new and improves the power rating.
