To meet its own quality stan\u00addards, Van Wijk was looking for a partner to find a more energy-effi\u00adcient solu\u00adtion for the inflat\u00adable dock shel\u00adters.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"clear: none;\">A fan on an energy-saving mission<\/h2>\n<p>That\u2019s how the part\u00adner\u00adship with ebm-papst came about. They had just the right fan for the inflat\u00adable dock shel\u00adters: the RadiCal EC centrifugal fan in scroll housing. The fan was actu\u00adally designed for resi\u00adden\u00adtial venti\u00adlation, but ebm-papst recog\u00adnized its poten\u00adtial to shine in other areas as well, as Archibald Bakker, sales engi\u00adneer at ebm-papst Benelux, explains: \u201cSince Van Wijk was looking for an energy-effi\u00adcient solu\u00adtion for inflat\u00adable dock shel\u00adters, the RadiCal in scroll housing was a \u00adperfect fit.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span class=\"with-quotes\">The fan shuts down the power as soon as the cush\u00adions are filled. This sensor measures the actual air flow and trans\u00admits the data to the fan\u2019s inte\u00adgrated control elec\u00adtronics. The control elec\u00adtronics adjust the speed of the EC motor to the desired setpoint value, thus regu\u00adlating the air volume. Erik Stoffer is enthu\u00adsi\u00adastic about the new solu\u00adtion: \u201cThe fan shuts down the power as soon as the cush\u00adions are completely filled with air. The pres\u00adsure in the cush\u00adions remains constant during the loading process even though the power is low.\u201d The result: a 35 percent reduc\u00adtion in the application\u2019s energy consump\u00adtion. The inflat\u00adable dock shel\u00adters are set to become even more envi\u00adron\u00admen\u00adtally friendly in the future. Van Wijk sees a need to opti\u00admize the cush\u00adions, which are constructed from sturdy, wear-resis\u00adtant PVC, by making them thinner. The advan\u00adtages are obvious: \u201cThinner mate\u00adrial means lower mate\u00adrial consump\u00adtion.
