These emis\u00adsions have to be reduced by more than 40 percent to achieve climate protec\u00adtion targets by 2030 and to become less depen\u00addent on energy imports. At the same time, it is impor\u00adtant to balance energy and health require\u00adments. Even with optimum insu\u00adla\u00adtion and hermet\u00adi\u00adcally sealed building envelopes, an air exchange must be ensured in order to prevent damage to the building\u2019s struc\u00adture, such as mold forma\u00adtion, and an impact on the air quality. Push-pull systems for decen\u00adtral\u00adized resi\u00adden\u00adtial venti\u00adlation are a prac\u00adtical solu\u00adtion for this. (Graphics | ebm-papst)<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Heat recovery during venti\u00adlation<\/h2>\n<p>Push-pull venti\u00adlation units convey used air from the living space to the outside (push) for a defined period of time, usually around one minute. The fan installed in the venti\u00adlation unit then changes its direc\u00adtion of rota\u00adtion, i.e. it reverses (pull). During push oper\u00ada\u00adtion, an inte\u00adgrated heat accu\u00admu\u00adlator stores the heat energy from the exhaust air. In the pull phase, it is trans\u00adferred to the fresh outside air so that it flows into the building preheated. A filter also clears dust and pollen from the air coming in from outside. Two units per room or zone are required to ensure balanced venti\u00adlation. In some cases, several rooms are venti\u00adlated using one pair of units.<\/p>\n<p>The units for decen\u00adtral\u00adized resi\u00adden\u00adtial venti\u00adlation are easy to install; they are easily inte\u00adgrated into the building fa\u00e7ade. However, this poses a chal\u00adlenge for the fans used: even with changing wind forces, they must deliver an air flow that is as constant as possible in both direc\u00adtions of rota\u00adtion. However, that is no problem for the new AxiRev reversing fan, which ebm-papst devel\u00adoped espe\u00adcially for the require\u00adments in this type of push-pull appli\u00adca\u00adtion.<\/p>\n<h2>Steep char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adistic curve, high pres\u00adsure increase<\/h2>\n<p>The EC motor and fan geom\u00adetry have been selected so that the fan is designed precisely for the oper\u00adating points commonly used in push-pull systems. The char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adistic curve for the pressure\/air flow is very steep, which means that, even in stormy weather condi\u00adtions, there are only slight fluc\u00adtu\u00ada\u00adtions in the air flow. In typical appli\u00adca\u00adtions, S2 clas\u00adsi\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtion as per DIN EN 13141-8 for wind pres\u00adsure suscep\u00adti\u00adbility is achiev\u00adable. This means that wind and storms have little influ\u00adence on the effi\u00adciency and func\u00adtion of the decen\u00adtral\u00adized resi\u00adden\u00adtial venti\u00adlation unit. The blade design is almost symmet\u00adrical and ensures that the char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adistic curve and so too the volume of air conveyed are iden\u00adtical in both direc\u00adtions of rota\u00adtion. These include, for example, the \u201cflat fitted\u201d blades that enable higher pres\u00adsures. The patented blade design with striking blade tips and the open\u00adings at the blade ends mini\u00admizes the noises induced by tip gap vortices, which reduces the noise emis\u00adsions. Matching the number of blades and struts also plays a role in this context. The thir\u00adteen struts with an aero\u00addy\u00adnamic profile also reduce turbu\u00adlent trails, which ensures a very good psychoa\u00adcoustic noise quality. This means that the fan is not only quiet but its oper\u00adating noise is also perceived as pleasant. This also applies to both direc\u00adtions of rota\u00adtion and, of course, the three-phase EC motor devel\u00adoped specif\u00adi\u00adcally for this area of appli\u00adca\u00adtion without irri\u00adtating commu\u00adta\u00adtion noise, and switching between the direc\u00adtions of rota\u00adtion cannot be heard.<\/p>\n<h2>Energy-effi\u00adcient and suit\u00adable for retro\u00adfits<\/h2>\n<p>Thanks to the motor and aero\u00addy\u00adnamic opti\u00admiza\u00adtions, the fan only consumes a small amount of energy during oper\u00ada\u00adtion. With a typical flow quan\u00adtity of 42 m\u00b3\/h per push-pull unit, a stan\u00addard device is less than 2 W. As EC motors work at high effi\u00adciency even in partial-load oper\u00ada\u00adtion, this also applies if the venti\u00adlation is only in minimal oper\u00ada\u00adtion, for example because no-one is present in the rooms. The large speed range from 4,200 to below 500 rpm also covers this oper\u00adating mode. The fan can be infi\u00adnitely adjusted, e.g. in terms of humidity, temper\u00ada\u00adture and CO<sub>2<\/sub> content of the ambient air. It is supplied as a complete system that can be plug and play and is also suit\u00adable for retro\u00adfitting, as the foot\u00adprint and dimen\u00adsions are the same as the previous model. There\u00adfore, the fans are easy to exchange without having to change the design of the device. The user then bene\u00adfits from a signif\u00adi\u00adcantly increased air flow, increased effi\u00adciency (7 percentage points per single fan) and a 5 dB(A) decrease in noise level.
