For this to work, large build\u00adings such as shop\u00adping malls and stadiums need what are known as \u2018RRUs\u2019, which pick up the signal from the large 5G antennas and transmit it into the building. This is because 5G has one disad\u00advan\u00adtage: it uses a shorter-wave\u00adlength frequency for its high data trans\u00admis\u00adsion rates. With its RRUs, the telecom\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtions company from South Korea\u2019s capital Seoul is bringing 5G to even the remotest corners of build\u00adings \u2013 without any loss of speed and for use by many people at the same time. The RRUs can be installed both inside the building and outside, for example on the roof. This is partic\u00adu\u00adlarly advan\u00adta\u00adgeous in warmer regions around the world, as the RRUs also generate a lot of heat with all the 5G data traffic, which can be dissi\u00adpated better outside.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe have increased the speed of our axial compact fans from 8,500 to 9,900 rpm espe\u00adcially for this appli\u00adca\u00adtion.\u201d<cite>Bern\u00adhard Th\u00fcrmer, Area Sales Manager at ebm-papst<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>Full coverage thanks to cool solu\u00adtion<\/h2>\n<p>To ensure that SK Telesys\u2019 RRUs do not over\u00adheat and do not cause power fail\u00adures in the build\u00adings, the company relies on a custom-fit, high-perfor\u00admance cooling solu\u00adtion from ebm-papst. A total of three axial compact fans are used for this. Bern\u00adhard Th\u00fcrmer, Area Sales Manager at ebm-papst, explains: \u201cSK Telesys\u2019 remote radio units require a lot of cooling capacity. Accord\u00adingly, the axial compact fans are also protected from dust, splash water and salt spray thanks to a fully cast circuit board and stator, and are fully func\u00adtional at temper\u00ada\u00adtures from -40 to +60 degrees Celsius.
