In recent years, the centrifugal fans in the RadiPac series specially designed for use in air condi\u00adtioning and venti\u00adlation units have been constantly opti\u00admized, with partic\u00adular emphasis on energy effi\u00adciency, noise reduc\u00adtion, and handling. With the new RadiPac, it has been possible to make another deci\u00adsive improve\u00adment in this successful series. The static pres\u00adsure increase that can be achieved is well over 2000 Pa. It has been devel\u00adoped according to the latest aero\u00addy\u00adnamic find\u00adings with its five geomet\u00adri\u00adcally sophis\u00adti\u00adcated impeller blades (Fig. 3). A high-strength, glass-fiber rein\u00adforced composite mate\u00adrial is used here. The complex shape is made possible by the injec\u00adtion molding process used. This blade geom\u00adetry dras\u00adti\u00adcally reduces flow losses. The rounded flow contour at the blade inlet and the blade trailing edge, which tapers toward the back, contribute to this. The wavy cover plate leads to an optimal air flow rate through the impeller. The inlet ring is also made of composite mate\u00adrial and is designed for perfect inter\u00adac\u00adtion with the new impeller. The sophis\u00adti\u00adcated impeller geom\u00adetry not only reduces flow losses, but also noise gener\u00ada\u00adtion. When it comes to its strength, the mechan\u00adical design of the impeller also impresses. A newly devel\u00adoped 24 kW EC motor has once again extended the power spec\u00adtrum. This has been proven under harsh condi\u00adtions in exten\u00adsive stress and long-term tests. They can be oper\u00adated at maximum speed in a temper\u00ada\u00adture range from -25\u00b0C to +40\u00b0C. Here, the tried-and-tested indus\u00adtrial composite mate\u00adrial meets all the rele\u00advant stan\u00addards, and UL approval is also avail\u00adable if required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">EC motors: Stronger, more flex\u00adible, and even more compact<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The driving force behind the new RadiPac centrifugal fans are high-effi\u00adciency EC motors in the power range from 500 W to 8 kW. The inte\u00adgrated EC motors with external rotor design achieve effi\u00adciency levels in accor\u00addance with the require\u00adments for effi\u00adciency class IE5 set out in IEC\/TS 60034-30-2. For reasons of system effi\u00adciency, the drive system consisting of motor and inte\u00adgrated power elec\u00adtronics is indi\u00advid\u00adu\u00adally adapted on each fan, and is opti\u00admized for the respec\u00adtive oper\u00adating range. The newly devel\u00adoped 8 kW drive sets new stan\u00addards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The perfor\u00admance of the inte\u00adgrated elec\u00adtronics has been increased again, even with its more compact dimen\u00adsions.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The perfor\u00admance of the inte\u00adgrated elec\u00adtronics has been increased again, even with its more compact dimen\u00adsions. Design and func\u00adtion\u00adality have also been updated to the latest gener\u00ada\u00adtion, and upgraded to include a config\u00adurable inter\u00adface \u2013 including the MODBUS-RTU inter\u00adface and inte\u00adgrated reso\u00adnance sensor (see text in box). This reso\u00adnance sensor measures oscil\u00adla\u00adtions and vibra\u00adtions in real time. This arrange\u00adment allows a higher torque to be achieved than with an internal rotor motor. With the most powerful stan\u00addard types, the impeller is attached to the motor in such a way that it has no nega\u00adtive influ\u00adence on aero\u00addy\u00adnamic effi\u00adciency. In the short version, the motor is immersed in the impeller. (Image | ebm-papst)<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Both RadiPac versions are avail\u00adable as a motor-impeller combi\u00adna\u00adtion or as a ready-to-install plug &amp; play solu\u00adtion in a compact support bracket for easy wall mounting (Fig. 6). The support plates have been dimen\u00adsioned to make the best possible use of space on a Euro pallet, thereby saving trans\u00adport costs and improving the CO<sub>2<\/sub> foot\u00adprint. A completely enclosed Flow\u00adGrid air inlet grill is also avail\u00adable as an option. This acts as a kind of recti\u00adfier that reduces noise-gener\u00adating turbu\u00adlence in the inflow without changing the air perfor\u00admance and power consump\u00adtion. It also serves as a guard grill for the intake side. The fans are then even quieter, which bene\u00adfits venti\u00adlation appli\u00adca\u00adtions as well as many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group mgznkr-elements mgznkr-box\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Auto\u00admatic reso\u00adnance detec\u00adtion for more oper\u00adating reli\u00ada\u00adbility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Centrifugal fans are used in a wide range of appli\u00adca\u00adtions. Depending on the instal\u00adla\u00adtion situ\u00ada\u00adtion, there may be reso\u00adnance in unfore\u00adseen speed ranges. If the fan is often oper\u00adated in such crit\u00adical ranges, the drive motors\u2019 bearing system may be damaged, leading to fan failure. For system oper\u00ada\u00adtors, these vibra\u00adtions can be measured but are not easy to suppress. In its RadiPac centrifugal fans, ebm-papst solves the problem with an auto\u00admatic reso\u00adnance detec\u00adtion func\u00adtion that mini\u00admizes the effect of vibra\u00adtions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A test start-up is carried out during commis\u00adsioning in which the vibra\u00adtion levels over the entire speed curve are recorded and analyzed. If exces\u00adsive vibra\u00adtion veloc\u00adi\u00adties are detected in specific ranges, the control soft\u00adware auto\u00admat\u00adi\u00adcally sets itself to \u201cfast-forward\u201d through these speed ranges in the future (Fig 7). In this way EC centrifugal fans can be oper\u00adated without risk of damage.
