Although the construc\u00adtion of the 5,000-square meter building had its chal\u00adlenges, the 25-meter tall struc\u00adture was completed within the planned construc\u00adtion period, and testing oper\u00ada\u00adtions began recently. Test spec\u00adi\u00admens of up to 60 cubic meters in size and with a weight of up to 3.5 metric tons are tested here.<\/p>\n<p>Across a total of 13 different cham\u00adbers, the engi\u00adneers measure how well they react to distur\u00adbances and whether they could cause elec\u00adtrical or elec\u00adtro\u00admag\u00adnetic inter\u00adfer\u00adence to other devices them\u00adselves. In addi\u00adtion to the test cham\u00adbers and test halls, there are offices, complex energy-saving building tech\u00adnology systems, and plenty of safety precau\u00adtions spread over three floors.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Every\u00adthing in-house<\/strong><\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_23491\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 363px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-23491\" src=\"https:\/\/ebmpapst-7237.kxcdn.com\/de\/files\/2021\/02\/7W7A6458_SMALL_EDIT_COL_01GW-660x990.jpg\" alt width=\"363\" height=\"545\"><div class=\"wp-caption-border\"><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Markus Mettler and Martin Schmitt inspect a test chamber. (Photo | ebm-papst)<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<p>Martin Schmitt, Head of Elec\u00adtronics Services, explains the advan\u00adtages of having an in-house EMC test center: \u201cWe can use it to measure our fans here on site according to all the rele\u00advant EMC stan\u00addards and no longer have to resort to external labo\u00adra\u00adto\u00adries. Combined with the exper\u00adtise of our internal EMC experts, we save time, can be as flex\u00adible as possible, and increase our reac\u00adtion speed. Further\u00admore, the systems already offer the option of conducting EMC measure\u00adments on our customers\u2019 end devices under actual oper\u00adating condi\u00adtions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even for the construc\u00adtion of the building, ebm-papst relied on in-house resources. \u201cWe managed the project ourselves together with our archi\u00adtec\u00adtural firm, which enabled us to stream\u00adline the process and ulti\u00admately save time and money,\u201d said Markus Mettler, Tech\u00adnical Oper\u00ada\u00adtions Manager at ebm-papst and respon\u00adsible for the construc\u00adtion. Being able to dispense with using a general contractor made it possible to adapt the plan\u00adning parallel to construc\u00adtion.<\/p>\n<p>Mettler: \u201cDuring the weekly construc\u00adtion meet\u00adings with the plan\u00adning team, changes were made that would have had an effect on the price and construc\u00adtion time quoted by a general contractor.\u201d It was a wise move for ebm-papst to appoint local compa\u00adnies with the construc\u00adtion of the EMC test center: they have their own personnel and rely much less on subcon\u00adtrac\u00adtors, who would not have been able to travel during the coro\u00adn\u00adavirus crisis, as some inter\u00adna\u00adtional borders were closed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ebm-papst invested 12 million euros in its new testing center for elec\u00adtro\u00admag\u00adnetic compat\u00adi\u00adbility (EMC) at its head\u00adquar\u00adters in Mulfingen.
