A swim\u00adming pool and pigsty are more similar than you might think \u2013 at least when it comes to venti\u00adlation require\u00adments. Although the air might smell consid\u00ader\u00adably stronger in the sty, there is also a high humidity level there. At the Celle Ring\u00adhotel, the task of removing this humid air was carried out by an old system equipped with AC fans until March 2019.<\/p>\n

The system, which had become outdated, was resulting in oper\u00adating costs of around 12,250 euros per year. This encour\u00adaged the hotel oper\u00ada\u00adtors to think about installing a more modern and energy-effi\u00adcient system. The inquiry led them to hdt Anla\u00adgenbau GmbH in Diepholz. Word had got around about the exper\u00adtise of company manager Hein\u00adrich D\u00f6nsel\u00admann-Theile and his sons in all matters venti\u00adlation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe carry out 20 projects each year and tailor every\u00adthing to fit the design of the air duct on site,\u201d says Christo\u00adpher D\u00f6nsel\u00admann-Theile. \u201cAnd what makes us special is that we make the hous\u00adings of our systems out of glass-fiber rein\u00adforced plastic panels that resist corro\u00adsion.\u201d This is a major advan\u00adtage when installed in a swim\u00adming pool, where the air is humid and contains chlo\u00adrine, affecting metal compo\u00adnents over time.<\/p>\n

Instal\u00adla\u00adtion with obsta\u00adcles<\/h2>\n

On an initial inspec\u00adtion, the experts visited the site to get a first impres\u00adsion of the system. It quickly became clear that access to the venti\u00adlation system was very tight. There\u00adfore, hdt quickly produced a 3D image of the aisles and the old system to deter\u00admine the best way to carry out the retrofit. The result: the deci\u00adsion was made to supply the new system in two parts and to install them together on site. After a three-month plan\u00adning phase, the instal\u00adla\u00adtion began.<\/p>\n

This came to fruition within two weeks. The old system was disman\u00adtled and the new one was installed. It was not neces\u00adsary to touch the eight venti\u00adlation ducts on site. Instead, hdt designed the new system in such a way that neces\u00adsary adjust\u00adments to the indi\u00advidual compo\u00adnents of the system could be made in domestic produc\u00adtion before instal\u00adla\u00adtion. It consists of a supply air filter, a supply air fan, a heating register, a heat exchanger module, and an exhaust fan. Both RadiCal fans are manu\u00adfac\u00adtured by ebm-papst and each offer a contin\u00adu\u00adously adjustable power output of 0.14 to 0.79 kW.<\/p>\n

Effi\u00adciency is every\u00adthing<\/h2>\n

The new system is much more energy-effi\u00adcient, and there\u00adfore cheaper, than the old one. \u201cAdmit\u00adtedly, it is slightly less effi\u00adcient at heat recovery, but it is more effi\u00adcient at venti\u00adlation, which makes up for it,\u201d says Christo\u00adpher D\u00f6nsel\u00admann. The oper\u00adating costs following the retrofit speak volumes: they were cut to around 4,800 euros, i.e., by almost two thirds. To achieve this impres\u00adsive result, hdt made use of the dryness of the outside air.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith a swim\u00adming pool, it\u2019s about dehu\u00admid\u00adi\u00adfying the air,\u201d says Christo\u00adpher. \u201cIf you can do this using an air condi\u00adtioner that heats the air, you very quickly reach an output of 10 to 20 kW.\u201d To do it more effi\u00adciently, a different approach is needed. \u201cThe outside air that we bring into the pool reduces the humidity inside. We simply venti\u00adlate and bring back the energy that we would lose, using heat recovery. Another benefit is that fresh air is always coming into the system,\u201d explains Christo\u00adpher. On a final note, he says that a key feature of this kind of system is that it does not require main\u00adte\u00adnance: \u201cYou take a look at it every two years and it\u2019s still going.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
