The same thing happens in a gas condensing unit. When a voltage U is applied, a small elec\u00adtric current I, called an \u201cioniza\u00adtion current,\u201d flows through the flame.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>In gas condensing units, a system comprising venturi, combus\u00adtion air blower, and gas valve has proven successful for mixture control\u200a\u2014\u200aso-called pneu\u00admatic gas\/air ratio control: depending on the amount of air conveyed, suction pres\u00adsure arises in a venturi, which adds the applic\u00adable amount of gas from the gas control valve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The control shows its limits, however, when the suppliers must flex\u00adibly feed new gas sources and alter\u00adna\u00adtive fuel into the networks. Gas-adap\u00adtive systems that auto\u00admat\u00adi\u00adcally adjust to the fuel are there\u00adfore essen\u00adtial. But they can only func\u00adtion with an elec\u00adtronic gas\/air ratio control. This makes control in an elec\u00adtronic gas\/air ratio control less complex.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Back\u00adground infor\u00adma\u00adtion: Combus\u00adtion is a chem\u00adical reac\u00adtion that sets elec\u00adtrons free. This means the flame can conduct elec\u00adtricity. If voltage is applied exter\u00adnally, a small elec\u00adtric current called \u201cioniza\u00adtion current\u201d flows through the flame. When the current has achieved its maximum, combus\u00adtion is perfect, and the \u03bb-value is 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the maximum value should not be achieved. As in the case of a pneu\u00admatic gas\/air ratio control, a safety buffer is included in the calcu\u00adla\u00adtion. For example, the target \u03bb value is 1.3, an area in which the rela\u00adtion\u00adship between the ioniza\u00adtion current and the \u03bb value is virtu\u00adally linear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The combus\u00adtion mixture control depends solely on the ioniza\u00adtion current. The formula shows how simple the rela\u00adtion\u00adship is: If the ioniza\u00adtion current is too small, more gas is fed in.
