A hot spot of Turkish industry is located around 20 kilo\u00adme\u00adters to the north east of Izmir. In the huge indus\u00adtrial zone of Manisa, Emas Makina Sanayi A.\u015e. (emas) and over 150 other compa\u00adnies manu\u00adfac\u00adture their prod\u00aducts. emas is the biggest condensing boiler manu\u00adfac\u00adturer in Turkey and with its ECA brand, has also been a leader in the heating and cooling system market since 1985. And emas is now going inter\u00adna\u00adtional: China, Russia, the Middle East, Greece, Germany, and Great Britain. Inno\u00adva\u00adtions are a key driver of the expan\u00adsion. At emas, Fikri Ne\u011fi\u015f, the head of research and devel\u00adop\u00adment, is respon\u00adsible for this effort.<\/p>\n

What role does sustain\u00adability play for you\u200a?<\/h2>\n

It is very impor\u00adtant to me to act sustain\u00adably. That was one of the reasons I decided to work at emas. For me person\u00adally, the company\u2019s values are an impor\u00adtant guide and for both me and my colleagues, they are an inspiring goal.<\/p>\n

His master\u2019s thesis was about mate\u00adrial sciences and energy storage. What are your company\u2019s values\u200a?<\/h2>\n

Social respon\u00adsi\u00adbility is one of the two key values at emas. Our inter\u00adpre\u00adta\u00adtion of this is: conserving natural resources and treating the envi\u00adron\u00adment with respect. Sustain\u00adability is in our genes. This is why at emas, we also support direc\u00adtives whose goal is to reduce energy consump\u00adtion or emis\u00adsions. We believe in contin\u00aduous improve\u00adment of the envi\u00adron\u00adment and the contri\u00adbu\u00adtion to real\u00adizing this goal made by highly effi\u00adcient prod\u00aducts.<\/p>\n

Recently, you had to deal with imple\u00admenting a direc\u00adtive like that.<\/h2>\n

To success\u00adfully enter the market in the Euro\u00adpean Union, Turkey adopted its rules and regu\u00adla\u00adtions early on\u200a\u2014\u200aincluding the Ecode\u00adsign direc\u00adtive. It has applied to instan\u00adta\u00adneous water heaters in Turkey since January 2018. But we are not worried about imple\u00admenting it, since energy effi\u00adciency has played an impor\u00adtant role at emas for a long time.<\/p>\n

How exactly did you imple\u00adment the direc\u00adtive\u200a?<\/h2>\n

We concen\u00adtrated on two topics when imple\u00admenting the ErP Direc\u00adtive: tech\u00adnical imple\u00admen\u00adta\u00adtion and plan\u00adning. The tech\u00adnical side primarily involved deter\u00admining our effi\u00adciency classes. At the first step, we changed all the circu\u00adla\u00adtion pumps in the boilers to the high effi\u00adciency pumps according to ERP lot 11. As a second step, we phased out our non-condensing combi boilers according to ERP lot 1. Then, we provided the printed labels, inside pack\u00adaging of condensing boilers and gas water heaters, to end users and the docu\u00adment version to all customers on the Internet. At the same time, we enabled the online calcu\u00adla\u00adtion program of heating systems with addi\u00adtional heat sources or acces\u00adsories to deter\u00admine package system effi\u00adciency (boiler+controller+solar system+additional heat sources) and to create a label for the package system.<\/p>\n

We still haven\u2019t talked about the second value\u2009\u2026<\/h2>\n

It requires 100% customer orien\u00adta\u00adtion. To us, concen\u00adtrating on customers means recog\u00adnizing their expec\u00adta\u00adtions\u200a\u2014\u200aand meeting them with inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive prod\u00aducts that deliver more than antic\u00adi\u00adpated. Currently, we are working to expand our range of high-quality prod\u00aducts, for example. Customer demand in this segment is high.<\/p>\n

Could you mention a few exam\u00adples\u200a?<\/h2>\n

The newest prod\u00aducts in the ECA port\u00adfolio are Proteus Premix and Felis. The first one is a condensing boiler in the output range of 24 to 35 kW. Felis is a central high-perfor\u00admance condensing boiler from 65 to 150 kW. By the way, we rely on gas blowers from ebm-papst in both boilers. These high-perfor\u00admance compo\u00adnents support our effort to contin\u00adu\u00adously raise our prod\u00aducts\u2019 effi\u00adciency. And our customers warmly welcome Proteus Premix due to its low noise gener\u00ada\u00adtion. We are convinced that the gas blower plays an impor\u00adtant role in noise reduc\u00adtion.<\/p>\n

Why did you decide to go with ebm-papst\u200a?<\/h2>\n

We have been working closely with ebm-papst since 2004. Several factors played a role in our choice. First, we knew that ebm-papst has a repu\u00adta\u00adtion for high quality and reli\u00adable compo\u00adnents. Second, ebm-papst also follows a sustain\u00adable corpo\u00adrate philos\u00adophy that matches our convic\u00adtions. We test all compo\u00adnents for perfect func\u00adtion and satis\u00adfac\u00adtory service life in their appli\u00adca\u00adtions. Over the years we have had very good results with the gas blowers from ebm-papst. That is why we are always ready to use further devel\u00adop\u00adment or inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive prod\u00aducts: they fulfill our mission of exceeding expec\u00adta\u00adtions. After all, top quality and inno\u00adva\u00adtion are our main focus.<\/p>\n
