For the second time in two seasons, the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula OneTM Team has won the FIA Formula One World Constructors Championship* following its performance at the Russian Grand Prix on Sunday, 11th October 2015. By claiming 12 victories from 15 races so far this season and claiming 531 points, the driver partnership of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg have given the Team an unassailable lead with four races to go in the 2015 Championship. ebm-papst, the global leader in ventilation and drive technology, is proud to have contributed to MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS’ success for a second year having entered a partnership with the Team as a direct consequence of the power unit efficiency regulations that were introduced for 2014.
Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport, Toto Wolff, reflected: “Success in Formula OneTM requires absolute attention to every small detail and having partners who both share those values and can contribute to improving our organisation is hugely valuable. ebm-papst have improved our human performance environment in the team garages in tropical climates as well as providing technical cooling solutions for our race cars. But their help also extends to providing solutions at our headquarters that not only improve working conditions, but allow us to save money that can be used to enhance car performance. As a team, we are delighted with the contribution that ebm-papst have made to our successes this year.”Thomas Borst, Managing Director Sales and Marketing ebm-papst Group, states: “It’s a great honour for us to be an Official Team Partner of MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS. The company was recognised in 2013 as the winner of the German Sustainability Award (GSA) in the category “Germany’s most sustainable companies” – one of the most prestigious prizes of its kind in Europe. ebm-papst has since developed energy-efficient attachment cooling solutions for the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS F1 W05 Hybrid and F1 W06 Hybrid cars, which cool the temperature-sensitive components of the vehicles down to the optimum operating temperature. These fans in the sidepods and roll hoop openings of the car are an essential component of the car’s temperature management system. Fan specialist ebm-papst also provides MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS with an innovative garage cooling system which improves the working environment at Grand Prix significantly – an important task when dealing with outside temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius at racing locations such as Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Furthermore, ebm-papst fans are used for improving the working conditions and energy efficiency at the team’s operational facilities in Brackley (Great Britain).
